High Point, N.C., November 6 — High Point Mayor Cyril Jefferson has been selected to join the 2025–26 ElevateNC: Higher Education cohort, a distinguished statewide leadership program of The Hunt Institute, in partnership with myFutureNC. The bipartisan program brings together accomplished leaders from North Carolina’s public, private, and nonprofit sectors to advance strategies that strengthen the state’s talent pipeline and expand access to higher education.Now in its latest cohort, ElevateNC: Higher Education is designed to equip state and regional leaders from both sides of the aisle with the knowledge, partnerships, and tools to increase postsecondary attainment and align education with workforce needs. Participants are chosen for their demonstrated leadership and commitment to driving community-focused solutions that close equity gaps and promote economic opportunity.“Being selected for ElevateNC is an incredible honor,” said Mayor Jefferson. “When we align employers, colleges, and community partners, we create pathways for families to thrive and position North Carolina for long-term success. Preserving democracy requires respect for the Constitution, separation of powers, and leaders who answer to the people—not to special interests or partisan extremes.In Congress, Cyril will:<ul><li>Defend the separation of powers and push back against executive overreach from either party.</li><li>Protect free and fair elections and uphold the peaceful transfer of power.</li><li>Reject political violence and ensure the voices of the people—not intimidation or extremism—guide our democracy.</li><li>Advance meaningful structural reforms, including congressional term limits, overriding Citizens United, banning stock trading by members of Congress, establishing a moratorium on lobbying after leaving office, and implementing a binding code of judicial ethics for the U.S. Supreme Court.</li><li>Increase transparency and accountability standards for federally funded programs so taxpayers know their money is being used effectively.</li></ul>Cyril’s approach to public safety reflects these same principles. As Mayor of High Point, he implemented a focused, data-driven crime reduction strategy that helped deliver a 67% drop in homicides and an overall reduction in violent crime—proving that effective government is measured by results, not rhetoric.
