Cyril Jefferson Officially Files to Run for Congress in North Carolina’s 6th District

Raleigh, NC – Today, Cyril Jefferson officially filed to run for Congress in North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District, formally submitting paperwork at the North Carolina State Board of Elections in Raleigh. The district includes parts of Cabarrus, Forsyth, and Guilford counties, as well as all of Davidson, Davie, and Rowan counties.

Currently serving as the Mayor of High Point, Jefferson is also a small business owner and a former educator. His campaign emphasizes results over partisanship, focusing on priorities that include supporting small businesses, expanding access to quality education, investing in infrastructure, and promoting economic opportunity across the district.

“This campaign is about getting results for the people of the 6th District,” Jefferson said. “I’ve spent my career serving this community in the classroom, in local government, and as a business owner, and I know that when we work together, we can achieve real solutions for families and businesses alike.”

Jefferson also noted, “We need leadership that puts the community first, not party politics. I am committed to listening, collaborating, and making sure that every voice in our district is heard and represented in Washington.”

The Democratic primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, and the winner will face freshman Republican Congressman Addison McDowell in the general election.

Jefferson’s campaign aims to build on his record of service in High Point, promoting policies that strengthen communities, create opportunities for small businesses, and ensure that local voices shape decisions in government.
