ISSUES THAT MATTER IN NC DISTRICT 6

Healthcare & Hunger Relief

No family should have to choose between a doctor visit and putting food on the table. Cyril will:

  • Protect Medicaid and Medicare for North Carolina families and seniors.

  • Lower prescription drug prices by expanding Medicare’s negotiating power.

  • Hold big insurers accountable—ending surprise billing and capping out-of-pocket costs.

  • Treat mental health like health by funding local clinics and telehealth solutions.

  • Fight hunger as a health issue by defending SNAP, expanding farm-to-school programs, and making fresh food affordable.

Proven results: Under Cyril’s leadership, High Point transformed from one of the worst-ranked areas for food hardship to a 2024 All-America City Award winner for tackling hunger.

Women's Healthcare & Reproductive Rights

"Keeping government out of the doctor’s office is essential to preserving individual liberties and human dignity. A person doesn’t have to agree with abortion to recognize that it’s someone else’s right to choose the healthcare that is most helpful to them.

"Furthermore, I don’t know a person who makes the abortion decision lightly. I typically find that people are in desperate situations, and end up making a very personal and private decision that ultimately no one ever wants to make.

"I believe our country will be better off when we collectively care as much about babies outside the womb as we do about those who are in it. That means we must invest in early childhood education and maternal health." - Mayor Cyril Jefferson
