Greensboro, NC — Cyril Jefferson is setting the record straight. After Addison McDowell cast votes that directly cut vital funding to his own congressional district—including slashes to Medicare, Medicaid, and infrastructure investments—Jefferson is calling out the hypocrisy and pledging to fight for every family left behind.
“Addison McDowell didn’t just vote against programs like Medicare and Medicaid,” Jefferson said. “He voted against our seniors, working families, and veterans—the very people who rely on these services to survive. I’ll bet against that record every time.”
In one vote after another, McDowell sided with extreme, out-of-touch party leadership to:
Cut Medicaid and Medicare funding, threatening access to healthcare for seniors and low-income families.
Slash support for rural hospitals and clinics, putting lifesaving care further out of reach.
Block investments in infrastructure and economic development, stalling progress in local communities that need it most.
To suggest that Cyril Jefferson "has a better chance of winning the lottery" than winning this race, as McDowell has stated, is ironic. McDowell’s record is the real gamble North Carolina can’t afford. This is not a game, and we are not betting on the lives and livelihoods of residents of the 6th Congressional District.
McDowell wants to talk about odds? Here’s one: zero. That’s how many times he’s voted to put our communities first.
“Cutting off your own community to score political points in Washington is not leadership. It’s betrayal,” Jefferson said. “We need representatives who vote like they actually live here—because I do. And I will.”
As the campaign moves forward, Jefferson will continue to highlight the clear contrast between his vision of results and McDowell’s track record of neglect.
