Mayor Cyril Jefferson Joins “Take BAC Congress” to Advance Government Accountability Reforms

High Point, N.C., January 13 — High Point Mayor Cyril Jefferson announced that he is joining Take BAC Congress, a national initiative focused on restoring balance, accountability, and public trust in the federal government through common-sense institutional reforms.

Take BAC Congress advances a reform agenda that includes congressional term limits, overturning Citizens United, banning stock trading by members of Congress while in office, establishing a five-year moratorium on lobbying after leaving office, and adopting a clear code of judicial ethics for the U.S. Supreme Court.

“People are tired of a system that feels rigged for insiders,” said Mayor Jefferson. “Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or independent, most of us can agree on basic rules: you shouldn’t be able to trade stocks off information you learn in office, you shouldn’t be able to cash out by lobbying the minute you leave, and our institutions should be accountable to the people they serve. Joining Take BAC Congress is part of my commitment to practical, nonpartisan problem-solving—and to restoring trust through reforms that are fair, transparent, and enforceable.”

Jefferson, who serves as Mayor of High Point, has emphasized a results-first approach to public service, focusing on collaborations that deliver measurable improvements in community well-being. He is currently a candidate for North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District, where he has made government accountability and high-integrity leadership central to his platform.

“Across North Carolina’s Sixth District, folks want leaders who will focus on what works,” Jefferson added. “There’s no such thing as a red or blue pothole. The same is true for accountability: it shouldn’t be partisan to demand that Washington plays by the rules.”

By joining Take BAC Congress, Jefferson signals his support for reforms intended to reduce conflicts of interest, strengthen ethical standards, and realign incentives in federal service toward long-term stewardship rather than personal gain.
